Our Story

Words & Money is a new digital media venture launched by media and publishing industry veterans Andrew Richard Albanese and Erin L. Cox. Words & Money will provide essential news, analysis, opinion, as well as select reviews, and resources that will center the role of libraries in the 21st Century publishing business.
Words & Money will update the website daily with news and analysis, publish a weekly newsletter which will feature long-form essays, and coming soon a biweekly podcast that will present news and interviews with authors and newsmakers.
Andrew Richard Albanese is a veteran library and publishing industry reporter, working for 16 years at Publishers Weekly (2008-2025), and 9 years at Library Journal. (1999-2008). He is widely known for his in-depth coverage of some of the publishing industry's biggest stories, including the battle over Google Books, the Apple E-book price-fixing case, the current surge in book bans, the open access movement, copyright issues, and the rocky evolution of the digital library market. He is a former editor of American history at Oxford University Press, and author of the bestselling e-book The Battle of $9.99: How Apple, Amazon and the Big Six Publishers Changed the E-book Market Overnight.
Erin L. Cox has spent more than 25 years on the business development and promotional side of the publishing industry, working in book publicity at Scribner and HarperCollins, advertising sales and marketing at The New Yorker, business development at Publishing Perspectives, and consulting with publishers, literary organizations, book fairs, writers, and technology companies serving the publishing industry.
